What is it with shoes in Williamsburg?

Why throw your shoes out when you can tie them together and throw them over the power lines? This also extends to teddy bears as well which is slightly more disturbing. It never ceases to amaze me the number which you find over the power lines in Williamsburg. It does look kinda cool though.
