London 2011

I managed to snag a little work trip over to London this month. It ended up being a very nostalgic trip down memory lane as I was staying at the classy London City Travelodge which was practically across the road from The Lex Lounge.

I got in on the weekend so managed to get some time to cruise around to some of the old haunts. After dumping my bags I made a beeline for Camden Market, one of my old favs. It has expanded but was still full of shops selling average Asian food and delicious orange juice. From there it was back to Shoreditch to explore the old hood. I struck one of those weekends that makes London truly a remarkable place during summer. It must have been 25 degrees and clear blue skys. Everyone was out and about the the pubs were packed with people having a sneaky afternoon beer on the footpaths. I spent time wandering round and headed over to the Shoreditch Markets and then Truman Brewery area. Honestly the place was buzzing. It really reminded me of what a great year I had in London a back in 05/06. I do miss the place. Those that have lived there will know the feeling.

Sunday I went for a max walk along the Thames. The weather was good although the wind kicked up and it was really dusty. The rest of the week was taken up by work but I managed to get on the jars every night with old friends making it all in all a top trip, even if it was work related.

St Lucia Lomo Love

Below are a selection of shots I took while down in St Lucia. What an amazing place.

My Fav's

The Pitons. We did a day sailing trip down to visit these bad boys. Just a shame there was no wind so it was more of a motor cruise down there.

Our Plunge Pool. I don't think either of us will ever forget this 8th wonder of the world. The hours we spent floating in this watching the boats go by and sucking down a cold Piton was unforgettable.

Water Taxis on Marigot Bay.

Boats on Marigot Bay Beach.

Selfy on the beach at Pigeon Island.

Another Reason I Love This City

I love a city where you can order your toilet paper off the Internet and have it delivered the next day to your door. Now I just need to figure out where I put it all.

The window is Dasha's new fav little spot to chill in the sun. I've built a little bridge so he can get over to it from the couch

Lovely St Lucia

Tracy and I finally got to experience some Caribbean joy when we recently took a trip down to St Lucia. St Lucia is right down the bottom right just above South America. Being quite high tech I've managed to add in a little Google Map of where it is. The specific place we stayed at was called Marigot Bay. I'm going to do a bit of a photo style description rather than bore you to tears with chunky paragraphs. It truly was an awesome trip though. We were staying in this little isolated cottage up on a cliff overlooking the water. By far the biggest highlight outside of doing nothing was the sensational plunge pool right at our front door. Anyway see the photos and descriptions below for some of the things we did.

The view from the living room. It was pretty tough to leave the unit when this is what we had to put up with,

Action shots from the pool. By the end of the trip we were both like crayfish having spent so much time in the pool.

The locals marina in Marigot Bay. The boats pictured are the local water taxis.

This was from our sailing adventure to the Pitons. You can see the pointy mountain in the background. The one small problem was there was no wind so it was more of a motor cruise down.

Sunset from our balcony.

One of the activities at the unit was watching the boats go past. Tough life.

Tracy wanted to get physical one day and so we decided to climb the mountain on the other side of the bay. This was a shot looking back at Marigot Bay. The place is known as a bit of a sanctuary for sailors as it has an inner harbor which offers excellent protection during hurricanes.

Tracy at our nightly Chardy hour. This consisted of a couple of bev's and checking out photos of Dasha online.

On Friday nights some of the towns have this thing called Jump Up. It's a small night market where they sell seafood. It was a bit hit and miss but we finally found a stall that had the most delicious fish fingers we had ever had. Oh and the beer was cheap and good. Just what you need in 30 degrees and 95% humidity,

In case we got bored with our pool we could sneak next door to the neighbors for a change of scenery as they unit there was empty.

So while we were away we sent Dasha on his own little retreat to upstate New York. We found this rural retreat called Far Fetched Acres which was somewhere up near Albany. They came down to Manhattan to collect the little rat bag and took him up there. It was quite cool as each day they took photos and uploaded them to the web. It was great as he got to run around outside and also inside in a barn. He had his tail up high in every photo so we think he really enjoyed it.
