We arrived at the falls at about 4pm and headed down to the Maid of the Mist. The actual visit here was awesome and as touristy as the place is it is still magnificent. It all kind of went down hill from there. Dinner was in this crusty food court and the news got worse. Apparently there was a public holiday in Canada (B.S) so we had to drive an hour east to Rochester for accommodation. Well somehow we drove a lot more than that and ended up down near the border of Pennsylvania in some 30 buck per night trucker style hotel. Loved the footprints in T&D's room.
The next morning we were up and off to the Thousand Islands up by the Canadian border. Yes this is where the dressing came from. It was a four hour drive there, one our boat ride and then back on the bus for a 6 hour ride home. Joy.
It was however a cultural experience and I have now learnt what the Mandarin word for waterfall is.........Poo Poo. Check out this video for a sample (it gets good from about 20 seconds onwards)
