It was a super cruisy time up in Brisbane. Friday we went down to Sanctuary Cove for lunch and to check out some of the boats. Saturday Kate brewed up some of her home made baked beans which went down a treat. Loaded with pancetta they were a dream. Have to admit I was looking forward to her classic dish, mussels, but we'll save that for next time.
Saturday we headed down to Bulimba and hung out at this pretty cool cafe called Jetty and then headed back for a lazy arvo by the pool. Chuck and I got a bit trigger happy so we left the girls and went and did bloke things and went clay pigeon shooting. We did this a few years ago and had a ball and it was no less fun this time.
Saturday night we dusted off our disco shoes and headed down to the Eagle Street Wharf. This place has really developed over the past few years. Jade Buddha was always a place we'd stop at for a sneaky cocktail but it's starting to get a bit dated but there are no shortage of new places on the wharf. After a pint at the Bavarian we headed to Sake which is a fairly new Japanese place in town. It's a tad more upscale than your usual Asian fare and equally delicious. Chuck and me settled on a tasting menu which was delicious. I think our highlight was the desert. As much as I love Asian food I'm typically not a huge fan of the deserts you see on the menu but they'd got it right with brownie, homemade ice cream and mousse. Sensational.
Sunday was another lazy day by the pool eating hot cross buns and croissants. Another tough day and a great end to an awesome mini break. Thanks to our lovely hosts, Poodle, Kate and Claudia in Brisbane.

The rolls royce of bikes, yet to be taken out. Note the fishing baskets which I bet have never caught a fish before. |
