This is what an $800,000 diamond looks like. It's a little different to the one we just ordered for my gorgeous bride to be but worthy of a blog announcement!!!!

Las Vegas Part 2

The boys were hitting town and what better place would there be than Vegas to hook up and have our own Hangover adventure.

Poodle flew in from Brisbane and Chow Chow came in from the UK for a weekend of Vegas craziness. My plane was hideously late on the Friday night but the lads wasted no time befriending some crew in town for the Star Trek convention. I landed and not surprisingly they were all down at the Golden Nugget. Of all the places in Vegas I should not have expected these former officers of the Nugget Retrieval Unit to be anywhere else.

We stayed at the Cosmopolitan which is a really nice new place on the strip. Our room had a prime view over the strip and it was great to watch the Bellagio water fountains from the Balcony. The trip is pretty easy to explain in a blog as we only really did four things. Eat, drink, sleep and swim. The pool on level 14 was nothing short of sensational. It was filthy hot in Vegas so we spent almost all day inside of it. Classic and very relaxed time to catch up.

We had plans to smash up vegas at night but the problem was we could never really get our backsides off the couch at the Vesper Bar in the Cosmo. This was essentially their hotel lobby bar but let me run through the checklist

- Waiter service....check
- Comfy couch....check
- Cruisey tunes....check
- Not getting pushed around like a pinball....check
- Quite possibly the most awesome people watching ever, full stop, the end....check
- Out of control cat fight involving flying wigs, high heels being used as weapons and people being taken away in wheel chairs....check

Suffice to say we imprinted the couch with out backsides and had a blast there.

Was a truly memorable trip and we've made a pact to meet again in three years time in Tokyo. Boom.

Philly

I've been down to Philly countless times for work but never really taken the opportunity to check it out in any detail. A opportunity came up to get down again so this time I organized to stay at a mates place and check it out.

We ended up having a cracking dinner on the Friday night at this tapas place but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it. It was probably the highlight of the weekend although it did set us up for being a little under the weather on Saturday.

We did eventually surface and headed down to the Italian market on 9th Street. It was very cool and had heaps of delicious food. From there we went to brunch at some Greek place and then off to see the Liberty Bell.

It was kind of a contrasting trip to the one we did in Boston in January. Whereas Boston was probably the coldest place we've ever been it was filthy hot down in Philly on this day. We made it to the art museum and checked out the Rocky stairs but after this we were pretty knackered. We needed air con pronto so we headed to the university district and to the Institute of Modern Art.

They had two exhibitions on but the one called 'Happy' by Stefan Sagmeister was by far one of the best exhibitions I've ever been to. The guy is a graphic designer and creative genius. There were all types of random things including phtos, mixed media, electronic stuff. We spent ages in here and I would have loved to have gone back.

From here we headed back to NY on the train. A great spot but maybe more enjoyable on a non-40 degree day.

Chinatown Roof Graffiti

I cannot remember when it was but I caught a taxi over the Manhattan Bridge and noticed all this graffiti on the roofs of the buildings on the Manhattan side. It was only just a glimpse as I was speeding past in a cab but I had always wanted to head back to shoot a couple of pic's. I managed to get back there the other week and was really quite amazed by the extent of the graffiti. Sadly it was quite late in the day and the sun was behind the buildings so the pic's were pretty crap but you still get the drift.

Chinatown, NYC

I really need to invest some time wandering round this place with my camera. It's amazing.
