Well it's take two on this blog. After spending ages typing one on the plane down to Aruba, our iPad had a case of the gremlins and I lost the blog post.
I am sure there will be many posts over the coming months talking about our awesome time in NYC but in this one I wanted to talk about our last day.
We were both a little excited and got up pretty early. We decided to spend our last morning wandering round our old haunts. We headed west and picked up some bagels which we ate in Washington Square Park. From here we continued into the West Village and might have stopped at Magnolia Bakery for one last cheesecake. We strolled past our old place which looks like they have finally rented it out. We then came back to our pad via 14th street and maybe a touch of shopping was involved.
At this point we peeled. Tracy went for one last $20.00 Mani/pedi and I headed over to DUMBO to check out the arts festival which was on. It was really pumping over there and it was cool as most of the artists opened their studios for you to go and check out. I had no idea the we're so many over there.
I headed back to e East Village and met Tracy at Luke's Lobster. I was quite proud of myself as I'd managed to finish a loyalty card and got it up on the wall in some prime window real estate. I'll miss those bad boys.
We got home and chilled for a bit and then got ready for one final little activity. I'd wanted to do this on my last night in NYC for ages and that was hire a limo for a couple of hours and cruise around Manhattan. We both agreed this ended up being probably one of the best things we have done in NYC.
I asked for one with a sun roof and the driver was quite fine for us to stand through it while he was driving around. We headed south through the lower east side and went over the Manhattan bridge. It was like a roller coaster and a real adrenalin rush with the wind moving over your face. We had these permanent grins. We then turned around and came back over the Brooklyn Bridge and headed south.
We cruised past Wall St and then went to Battery Park where we saw the Statue and then past the Freedom Tower. We began to head north up the west side hwy and past the Intrepid. We cut back in around 57th St and cruised around Columbus Circle and under Central Park.

From here we headed south for what was the highlight. Crushing through Times Square. It was this surreal moment like in a movie. There were thousands of people there and heaps were waving and taking pics. We put a good show on with plenty of pashes along the way. It was all going fine until we pulled up a a light and a cop got a bit narky and told us to get back in.
We continued south past Grand Central, Empire State Building and drove past the Arch in Washington Square Park. A true awesome experience and a must do in NYC. We must have spent at least half the time standing through the sun roof. What a way to see NYC.
Tracy had not eaten dinner so we ended up at Whitman's and smashed out a burger. It's no Ellos but it's still pretty damn good.
What can I say? Sad to leave....yes. Looking forward to the next adventures....yes. NYC ally is the best city in the world. We'll miss you.
