They have this type of accommodation in Cuba called Casa Particulares and it's basically people renting out their spare rooms. It's all legit and the accommodation is very good. We had pre booked one from Havana and was glad to do so considering the mayhem that greeted us at the bus station. We were staying at Casa Tatica and our hosts were lovely. One of the best things about a Casa is the food they cook. We were not let down and had three awesome meals. The soup was delicious and the lobster on the second night was a gem.
Vinales was a breath of fresh air for us......literally. It was a good escape from the oppressive heat of Havana although it was pretty hot and humid here as well. A late afternoon shower really cooled the place down.
The town itself has a main road which is about 1 km long. Everyone is really friendly and it's very safe. Some of the high lights include the guys which sell these mini pizzas cooked off their front porch. A bargain at fifty cents. We found an awesome piña colada stand, again a whopping fifty cents. We also found a cigar shop and got a demo of how they make cigars. I may have also sampled one of them.
I've got a few pics to post so I'll break the blogs up. The pics below are focused just on the town itself.
